I am the Chair of the Governors and have been a member of the governing body since 2017. My working life has been in the Health Service where I was a senior ward sister at The Royal Preston Hospital. I have lived in Penwortham most of my life and my children have attended local schools. My grandson was a pupil at Middleforth and I became a volunteer helper with a specialist interest in reading which is a role I still enjoy today. I continue to be impressed with the caring and nurturing attitudes in school and the dedication of all staff which enables the children to receive a high quality education with encompassing Christian values. |
What made you decide to become a governor at Middleforth? |
For the last six years I have been a Volunteer Helper within the school. This role has included a special interest in reading with KS1 children. I have continued to be impressed by the caring and nurturing attitudes in school and dedication of the staff to enable children to receive a high standard of education. |

Interests and experience related to school governance: |
I am currently the Headteacher of a small primary school in Lancashire, a position I have held for the past four years, however I have worked at my current school for 15 years. Throughout my career, I have remained passionate about education and dedicated to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment for all pupils.
In addition to my role as Headteacher, I have served as a governor at my own school for 14 years. This experience has provided me with valuable insights into school governance, strategic planning, and the importance of effective leadership in driving school improvement.
|
What made you decide to become a governor at Middleforth? |
I have been interested in expanding my experience as a governor by contributing to another school for some time. When I became aware of the vacancy at Middleforth, I took the opportunity to learn more about the school and was impressed by its welcoming ethos and strong sense of community. Middleforth’s positive reputation and commitment to providing high-quality education resonated with my own values and aspirations as an educator. I am excited by working with the governing body as well as working with staff and the wider school community to support the school’s ongoing development and success. |

I love teaching/working at Middleforth and feel as though it is the suitable time to progress in my career, as well as being able to represent the staff at the school. As a school, Middleforth has supported me in developing further as an individual, and when the opportunity to become a governor arose, I had to take it! I look forward to understanding how a Governor can influence a school and learn from others already on the governing body.

I have lived in Penwortham all my life and feel very lucky to now have two children at Middleforth Primary School. I love spending time outdoors and enjoy encouraging children to be curious, adventurous and to explore the world around them. I decided to become a school governor because I want to give something back to the school and support the fantastic work that the staff do every day. I’m passionate about helping our children to learn, grow and thrive, and I’ll do my very best to support the school, staff, children and families in any way I can. |
What made you decide to become a governor at Middleforth? |
I was inspired to become a governor after seeing first-hand how wonderful the school is and how much my children have grown since joining Middleforth. The care, encouragement and support they’ve received has been invaluable. By joining the governing body, I hope to play a small part in supporting the school, its staff, children and families, and to give something back to both the school and the local community. |
