Homework in Y3
Each child in Y3 has their own homework book.
On the inside cover, there is a list of spellings to learn. Spellings will 'go out' on Friday and be tested on the following Thursday. The spellings follow the spelling rules/phonics we are covering that week so won't be completely new to the children.
Each week, there will also be:
- an English task (writing/comprehension/grammar)
OR
- a Maths task which relates to what we have done during the week.
Homework will be collected in on Thursdays, ready to be marked and handed back out on a Friday.
Thank you
DT - Making cushions
In the Spring Term, Year 3 deisgned and made their own mini cushions. They started off the unit learning running stitch and moved on to cross-stitch. It was tricky but they got there in the end! They then learnt how to appliqué. After learning all their new skills, the children deisgned their cushions, taking into consideration the colour of their material and thread. Have a look at their photos to see them at different stages of the unit.
Forest School
During the Autumn term, Year 3 took part in Forest School sessions with Mrs Ball and Mrs Gwillam. They had great fun exploring the outdoors and learning new skills...and getting muddy too! Have a look at our photos to see what they got up to.
Science
This term we have been looking at plants in our Science lessons.
We started off our unit going on a plant hunt in our outdoor area. We found lots of trees and some beautiful plants. Some of us even went on a plant hunt at home.
Through an investigation, we learnt what plants need to survive. They need; light, water, space to grow, fresh air and nutrients.
Design Technology
This term we made the most delicious apple crumbles as part of our DT work. I wonder if you managed to have a taste? What did you think?
Music
Some of us have started guitar lessons this year. We have learnt how to play along to Ed Sheeran and now we are learning some Christmas songs with Mr Webster.
